On Nov 14th. 2018, I updated to Quicken Home & Business for Windows 2018 Canadian version (or rather 2019 as it turns out).
I noticed right after install, that I had categories,business bills, reminders, accounts issues, as well as navigating between reports was extremely slow. Spent a few days trying the usual workarounds with very limited success.
I called the help line and the only answer I got was: 'The Quicken file you imported must've been corrupted. Can't help you there.' which for me, as a long time Quicken user, is not impossible but very improbable. I had validated the old file before import.
Checked for possible last minutes updates but Quicken displayed I had the latest version (v. R12.xx).
As days went by, trying to address all issues, Quicken's performance was slower and slower to the point that switching from a screen to another would take about 2 minutes, spent on watching the blue circle of death happily dancing away.
Checked and rechecked Windows/Quicken settings, made sure I met the hardware/software requirements .. all good. I'm way beyond the basics.
Time for my second call. This time, the agent confirmed I had the latest version (R12.xx) and the only suggestion was to re-install Quicken.. waste a week of troubleshooting? not gonna happen!
It was only, out of frustration, while scouring help files/sites/forums that I discovered there was a patch for Quicken 2018/2019 Canadian, addressing my glitches. The patch was made available in Nov 2018 .. for Quicken's failure to update, among other problems! and once downloaded and installed, did improve performance and reliability.
As one can see version in R15.24 and Year 2019
My question is: How come, on 2 different occasions, was I given the runaround and useless suggestions, when the answer (or at least one significant solution) was at their availability.
Is it poor training or nobody cares?

BTW R15.24 is the 'second patch' since 12.8. R14.16 came out earlier in November and your Quicken should have updated to that one automatically. R15.24 is new enough that I'm not sure if it is out of 'staged release mode' yet or not (not available for automatic update to more than a limited few).
R14.15 actually has only one line in the release notes:
Improved: User interface enhancements and bug fixes to improve the user experience.
But it in fact marks a BIG difference.
Ever since they changed from .Net 3.x to .Net 4.x in Quicken 2014, Quicken has had some nasty 'focus' and performance problems.
With that release they have gotten ride of a lot of the dependency on .Net, and as such it should perform much better in these core areas like keeping the right control focused when switch away from Quicken and back, size of the Window in maximized mode, and less 'flashing' and 'redrawing'. - edited December 2018Hi @ Moman1 ,

What are the specifications of the PC on which you are running Quicken?
Your data file may need compacting, which requires an additional procedure to performing a validation in isolation. Do this:- Make a copy of your Quicken data file using File-->File_Operations-->Copy. You must use this command to make the copy. Do not copy the file using any other method/command.
- Open the newly copied file.
- Run a file validation, selecting 'Rebuild Investing Lots' on the new file.
- If the validation finds any issues, go back to Step #1 and repeat (all using the new file).
- Once you have a clean validation (of the new file) use the new file going forward.

Been there, done that.
My point is, that regardless of the categories renaming issues and the likes which were addressed manually and new file validated (using the direct Quicken file validation process & with the method you mention above) with no issues/errors, Quicken behaved like a drunken sailor on happy hour.
Navigating between screens and accounts could take at time up to 2 minutes for a refresh.
Like QPW pointed above, there were 2 patches available in November. Why did my Quicken download on Nov 14th did not install at least the early Nov. one and why on 2 separate occasions did the phone agents identified my R12.xx version as the latest version.
I spent many hours trying this and that before I finally came across the R15.24 patch and as far as I can see, there was significant improvement in Quicken's behavior after patch install. Time will tell if this remains.
BTW, I also downloaded and installed the Canadian Mac version of Quicken 2019 (kudos to Quicken for that) with absolutely no issues other than automatic transactions download from my banking institution . Banking info is properly configured but the 'One Step Update' does not seem to finalize and import new transactions into Quicken.
Fortunately, I can manually download them directly from my bank and Quicken will 'import them' accurately in to the related accounts. Not a big deal but slightly annoying. Admittedly it could be a bank issue and not Quicken .. working on it .
As a note, my Quicken for Mac is still 2 - 3 times as fast as the Windows version and much more user friendly. The only reason I have the Windows version is that my professional tax software is strictly Windows based .. maybe some day (are you listening Trilogy software?)
All in all, Quicken is still my choice for financial software, being a user since day 1. Maybe with better (more knowledgeable) support this could have been resolved easily.. - edited December 2018

Quicken uses both terms Import and restore and each has a different meaning.
Import means to Import Bank Web Connect Files. Or via One Step Update.

Should have wrote, the Backup File was Restore to Quicken 2018.
What I would have simply stated? My Manual Backup was restored after updating Quicken.
I had a Quicken Update erase my Vault Passwords, so I simply Restored the last Manual Backup made, which fixed my problem.

I don't use imported term.
I have no control as to which term you use for a particular action. I guess the reason I used imported(restored) was in hope that most users would connect the related action. I suppose this could be debated until a new version of Quicken is available ..

@Moman1: the odd thing is that you and I use the same version(s) of Quicken Windows and I didn't encounter any material performance issues. I'm running Quicken on a higher end PC (than the one for which you posted specs), but I don't believe that explains the difference in our experience. Your PC specs are (more than) adequate; my PC specs are gross overkill. You may be right Artic Hare. I think (if I understand your post correctly) the residual performance issue you mention, is related to the 'One Step Update failure'. I am running Quicken on a i7 4790K (not overclocked), with 32 GB 1866 GHz RAM, a 6 GB DDR5 GPU, and Samsung 850 Pro SSD. Regardless, the high end machine yields only marginal performance benefits for Quicken.
